Jinty premieres Greenland film

Last week Jinty MacTavish had the premiere of her short film on Greenland. It was done for the Royal Society of New Zealand’s “Freemason Big Science Adventures”. The film was a feature at the RSNZ’s Science Honours Dinner held in Dunedin. The film covered the journey of three Otago Girls’ High School students to Greenland to confront the issues associated with global warming. Jinty cleverly documented the girls’ reactions using a mixture of beautifully lit studio interviews and sequences of the girls’ in situ.

The film was very well received – and it is just a taster of more to come: for Jinty’s film for her Master of Science Communication (MSciComm) in Science and Natural History Filmmaking, she will expand on the Greenland material and combine it with material shot on a forthcoming trip to Indonesia.

As an aside, Lloyd was the MC for the Science Honours evening, managing to look more penguin-like than usual in his tux.

Green with Envy
I saw Jinty's film and really liked it. I liked the way she handled the interviews with the girls and intergrated them with the scenics.
